| ♥ This is outdated, but.... My Flight Journey to Brisbane yeahh i know this is soooo outdated. But I already had it typed, so might as well post it up! Enjoy! XD My flight took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at exactly 9.00am on 21 February 2010. We were considerably late and we caused the airport officers to walk around the boarding gate to search for missing passengers (What do you expect? The flight was damn early in the morning!). Luckily we didn’t delay the flight in any way >.<. But still, I was wearing a 2 inch heel shoes with a pointy front and it wasn’t being too friendly. I had to walk-marathon all the way from the customs all the way to the boarding gate with a 10kg burden on my back (which is my laptop bag). When I was at the scanning points, all I did was shove everything into the machine and quickly walked through the metal detector, reclaiming my breath as I did so. And as I pass through it, damn, it screamed. =.=’ Stupid machine. Luckily I was still in Malaysian do the officer that would have to hand-search me. It was only later on that I realized I forgot to take off my watch and that the sound was caused by my shoes… *sigh* I wonder where the manufacturer hid the metal inside those pretty and pointy shoes. Then I safely board the plane. I went straight to my seat, and my father went to his. We didn’t manage to get a side-by-side seat because we checked-in pretty late so all the good seats were already taken. My dad already booked his seat and it was a window-seat. While mine was right in the middle of the plane, a place where the unlucky steward/stewardess from both sides of the lanes would receive a wave from me, asking them to pick up my empty plate or when I need some water. Oh yeah, btw I sat beside an Australian guy (he’s married since I saw his wedding ring~ LOL! Though, he wasn’t that handsome after all) and he was pretty nice. Not talkative though. All he did was smile and apologise whenever any of his stuff fell between our feets. =.=’ And on my left, it was empty… 8D I have no idea where the supposed person was but the empty seat turned out to be quite helpful. Because I shoved all kinds of rubbish on the empty seat while I minded my own business, watching some movies. The flight was quite good. But guess what, I wished the plane could accelerate much faster at a higher speed during take-off. LOL! I guess I needed some adrenaline rush. :P We received a few meals on our way to Sydney. The first meal was at 10.30am Malaysian time. I think that was supposed to be our lunch. They served either Nasi Lemak or Omelet Salmon with tea or coffee. I took the Nasi Lemak since I don’t know when will be the next time I’ll eat Nasi Lemak when I arrive at Brisbane. It was quite good by the way. The Nasi Lemak was accompanied by boiled eggs and Rendang Ayam with cute prawns. No sliced cucumbers or anchovies or peanuts btw. But still, it was still nice. We had orange juice, fresh fruits, croiscant, and Ferrero Rocher chocolates too as the side dishes! By the end of the meal, I was full~ ^_^ Oh! I forgot to tell you, while I was having lunch, I was watching ‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs’. Believe it or not but that was my first time watching the movie. You want to know what I think about the movie? Urm…. Childish? Yeah, I didn’t like it that much. I kind of thought the story was ridiculous. It was fun to imagine that we can get food really easily, but the storyline (as in how the story developed and what conflict they added) wasn’t as interesting as I would expect. No offense, but sometime I really am fussy when it comes to the quality of entertainment I watch or listen to. XP Anyways, I was actually planning to sleep during the flight. But nope. The mini screen I had in front of me didn’t permit me to close my eyes and put my mind on ‘pause’ mode. There were just to much movies! So I continued to watch more movies as the steward/stewardess continue on handing out orange juices or plain water every half an hour. It was very convenient~ =) There were new movies as well as old movies. I wished I could’ve watched more than I did. =.=’ I think I managed to watch about 4 movies on the way to Sydney. That includes ‘Cloudy With The Chance of Meatballs’, ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ (I’ve watched this a few times before and I don’t mind watching it again because Natalie Portman is pretty even though her character is ugly in here. Scarlett Johansson is HOT as well, keke~), then I watched a Korean Movie ‘Closer to Heaven’ (darn this story is so damn sad! The story’s progress was slow at the beginning and I was about to give up watching, but I stopped myself because I feel like I should end everything that I’ve started. So I continued, and the development of the story was really worth the tears… ^^), and I watched a little bit of Mulan (don’t you just miss this Disney movie? ^_^) but I slept half-way watching it. LOL! So I changed to ‘Down With Love’ (since my lovely Ewan McGregor played the lead guy). XD OH!And I went into the airplane’s toilet after a few hours on board! Maybe it’s because I drank too much earlier. >.< Gosh, was tiny or was it TINY? XD I can’t even take another step inside the lavatory without stepping out of it… =.=’ And when you flush the toilet, your rubbish will be sucked out by high pressure within. Yes, it’s my first time using one. The last time I went to Brisbane, I remembered trying my best to hold the urges back~ XD And back then, the first thing I searched for is a toilet inside the airport. LOL! Just before we arrived at Sydney International Airport, there was another meal where they gave out sandwiches. One of them was a tuna sandwich and the other was… urmm a veggie sandwich? Anyways, both of them were nice. :D Right about 8 hours after departure, we finally arrived. The temperature at Sydney then was 26oC and the time was around 7pm if I’m not mistaken. I remembered watching the sunset from my seat right before landing. It was extremely nice, since I’m a fan of sunsets myself~ Right at the end of the horizon, the shades clearly told me that this wasn’t the same as the ones in Malaysia. It had orange, red, blue, purple and white colours mixed together in a very wonderful way. I wish I could explain it better… It was a once in a lifetime moment, because not every day you will get to witness such a beautiful sunset from up above… If only I took a picture of it. *SIGH* Even the transit passengers were required to leave the plane even though the plane we will use is the same. The pilot told us that the Australian customs required all the transit passengers to have our cabin bags checked. I think this will be the third time I walked through the metal detectors without even arriving at my destination yet. =.=’ What can I say. This is the down under… We had to line up more than half an hours because those aussie people were checking every inch of all suspicious bags. Aishh… When it came to our turn, I had to take out my laptop and put it on a separate tray, shove all bags into the scanner and took off my shoes~ This was the point that I realized there was metal inside my shoes after all. Because the first time I went through, I was still wearing my shoes. And when I took it off, the metal detector finally SHUTS UP~ Then we went to the waiting area and sat there for about 15 minutes before we were allowed to board the plane again. And again, they re-checked out passports and tickets. I should say that these people should learn to trust people a bit more. The journey from Sydney to Brisbane was short. It was like KL to Kuching. =) We can’t access the movies, but we were given some snacks. It wasn’t dinner though… =.= Just some sandwiches with tea. And during this journey, I switched places with my dad and I get to sit beside the window! (Not that I can see much in the dark…) But still, seeing Sydney and Brisbane form up in the air was really a nice view. I noticed one thing though; Sydney was very flat geographically, while Brisbane has more contours even though both of them were located beside the river. It’s a nice fact to know, right? ^_^ At exactly 9.51pm Brisbane time (minus two hours for Malaysian time), we arrived at Brisbane International Airport. Ahhhh, Changmin once stepped on this soil… XD I can still smell his cologne~ LMAO~ Anyways, here, another fussy process commenced. At customs, it was all right. Just give the officer your passport and your entry pass, they certify everything and that’s it! Then we went to fetch our bags, 3 of them in total. And now comes the trickiest part of travelling to Australia. I brought some magi with me inside my luggage and I’ve declared it on my entry pass. I hope I’ll get through safely and they won’t find any other illegal things that I forgot to declare. But nope, I totally forgot that Sabun Samak has soil in it. =.= And they have stated that all soil materials should be declared… Dup Dap Dup Dap… o.O The officer asked what is it. (He’s a guy by the way). And I told him it is soap. He asked what I need to use it for. My mind immediately became blank. Because I don’t know what ‘Samak’ is in English~ *SIGHSIGH* Then my dad told him that it was used for cleaning by Muslims. (Good answer! Why didn’t I think of that~ XP) And the officer suddenly smiled and went out saying “Oh, I’ve heard about that one! What was it called again?” And I was again: WHAT THE HELL IS SAMAK IN ENGLISH!!!? Then my dad saved the day again, since he answered “wudhu’” o.O Then I looked at the officer. He smiled and said “Yeah! That’s it.” And he let us go~ Honestly, I hope he won’t spread this to his friends or the people that he know. Because that fact is… AISH…. LOL!! Then we were free to step out to Brisbane~ XD I quickly saw an old uncle holding up a UQ A4 sized board written ‘University of Queensland’ with a blue line at the bottom. (I thought UQ’s official colour is purple?) Anyways, I went to that guy and told him who I and my dad were. And he was being an Australian that he is, was being polite in his speech and all. There was already an Indian girl waiting and we had to wait a few more minutes for 2 more girls to come out of the International Arrival gates. (The exact same gate that Changmin went through~~~ <3333) hihiii~ And the other two girl turned out to be MARA sponsored students. After everyone was gathered, the MASCA people requested to meet the Malaysian people (MASCA is sort of the Malaysian Student Association in Australia or something like that. I should’ve contacted this people to ask for list of names of who will be in the same flight as mine. IDP was useless… =.=’) I wasn’t in the list~~ T^T I was the sole scholar of PNB coming to Queensland, so nobody told them about my arrival. It’s lucky that I arrived with MARA people. If not, I might still not know about the existence of MASCA until today… After everything was settled, we proceeded towards the UQ van. My accommodation was the farthest from the airport so we will be the last ones to get out. It took about 30 minutes to arrive at Macquarie Street from the airport. The driver was quite advanced since he used GPS to locate our addresses. I kept on hearing a lady’s voice saying ‘turn left now’, ‘200 meters towards the destination’, ‘take the first turn to the right’ and ‘destination arrived on your right’. It was a fun ride. =) Oh, and I managed to make friends with one of the MARA student. She’s doing Engineering, first year just like me. In fact, all of those MARA scholars will be doing either Engineering or Biotech. So that’s basically what happened during my flight (MH141) hahaha!! I hope no one is having bad sore eyes, or if you’re starting to see curved letters on this screen already~ XD I deeply apologize. I realized that I was carried away~ =.= Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the flight~ See you on my next blog entry!! ![]() |
