♥ Discipline

Yes, life is all about discipline. It all started with this very basic principle, which is to discipline yourself. If you don't have this, you're basically pillar-less and you'll never succeed in achieving what you want.

Wait, don't get too excited to smack me yet. I know that some people hated the word because they think that discipline provides no freedom at all. It restricts your actions and the way you want to lead your life, the typical primary school thinking. My friend... hear this. If you think of discipline that way, you are not as mature as you should be.

I'm not writing this particularly to anyone, but I'm considering it as a general statement. I've been observing people for so many years when going to various institutions. And at one point, it just made me feel so disappointed to keep on crossing path with people who lack this element in their personality. It makes me feel annoyed, especially when one keep on voicing their envy upon other people, but never tried to cross their own line and put upon the element of discipline as what the envied person is clearly doing. If you don't want to be as disciplined, then don't keep on nagging to everybody about your envy. Just shut up and do something about it!

What is so good about discipline? What IS discipline in the first place? To me, it's a guideline. It's a method of making yourself do something right. It's a feeling that will make you feel in place. It's an element that will bring you to success. It's simply a way of life. And trust me, it can't be gained overnight. It needs practice, self-interest and hard work to endure. Why do you have to endure? Because we have this bad ego lingering in our veins, this fear to do something that is out of our preferences, and this mentality that you should live your life to the fullest.

Everybody has ego within themselves, and many think that ego is a bad thing. NO. Ego is essential to make yourself YOU. If someone does not have ego within them, they're not a person of principle. And people without principle is not worthy to be respected. But ego has its own limitations. You need to control your own ego. Re-educate yourself on what is the most essential elements in your life. And ego and discipline must go side-by-side. Endure your unwanted ego so that you can allow yourself to do something right, full of dignity and discipline. And yes, this also has a LOT to do with doing things out of your preference. When unwanted ego overtakes you, you will tend to stick in one place and refuse to move for fear of the more complicated road ahead of you. You tend to move backwards or stay put, but you should know that it will never do you any good. Moving forward needs a lot of courage and discipline to keep you in track, thus you must fight your fear of stepping out of your own comfortable shell. And besides, who was it that created the slogan 'live your life to the fullest'? This will immediately take your mind towards thoughts of having fun and experiencing everything before you die, right? Well, most short-sighted people will anyway. It is in fact a good statement, but when it is terribly misinterpreted, it makes people get too carried away towards becoming a waste in their own life. This is because they don't have discipline to keep them in track. They're purely dragged away by selfish needs and wants.

So train yourself well. Not because someone asked you to. But because you want to be better yourself. And you want to make a difference. It's a very crucial element in any successful person's life. And you will never understand what discipline really means if you never think about it in depth, not even once in your lifetime. Look underneath the surface and start to change towards the better. It will help you think maturely.

Be noted again that this is not directed to anyone. It's just a friendly motivational talk that I suddenly had the urge to tell. So don't bash me if you don't like it. And sorry if it doesn't make that much sense, because I'm only an accountant. There's so much more that I will need to learn.
