♥ What Music is to you?

This question has been running a lot in my mind lately. It's been quite a while, but I still can't get a definite answer for it yet. I know that some says that we are forbidden to listen to music. Some says it's because that music is like another form of drug/alcohol, something that can make you drunk and lose your mind (eg: lost in the dunya). And I do have a friend from UAE who never listens to music (she doesn't even listen to nasyeed songs!). When we switched on the television, whenever there is a background music for a scene in a movie, we will turn on mute for her, we respected her beliefs. But you know what, I can't really comprehend it. Why? What's wrong with it?

Maybe I'm still in denial because I like to listen to music, especially TVXQ's music. Whenever I'm going out, I'd take my iPod and turn on the songs and listen to it on shuffle right until I reach back home. I'm not really addicted to listening to those songs, I just wanted to listen to it. Like it's part of multi-tasking for me. Going shopping, get on the bus, watch scenery, listen to Changmin and Jaejoong, daydream.. :p

Unlike what that video has mentioned, which is clearly an extreme case, TVXQ is known to be good people, with good hearts and good intentions. People became good persons because of them, and people did charity and those sorts because of them. (I know in our cases we're supposed to do it because of Allah, but they aren't Muslims...) But you get the point right? So is there any harm in me listening to TVXQ's music? Should I learn to stop listening to music once and for all?

At least I'm grateful that I'm no longer interested in listening to American music. I didn't know when it stopped. During my teenage years, I loved Eminem's music, I listened to Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, POD, Evanescence, LINK!N PARK etc.. And I didn't realise when it stopped. Maybe it was when I entered MRSM? Because then I started to listen to nasyeed 24/7. I guess that must be the point when the interest in American music completely diminished? I'm not very sure. When I entered KYUEM, everyone around me listens to American Music -_- Those smart ass geniuses of Malaysia won't stop gosipping about American artists with each other, and sing American songs even in the shower. haha. But that didn't quite made me want to listen to American music again. Though I still found myself bobbing head to Britney Spears sometimes. :p

Well, maybe Allah has helped and shielded me from that evil influence of those kinds of American musics, Alhamdulillah...

But why did I turn to Korean music instead? I first knew about Kpop when I was in KYUEM. That was also when I first knew about TVXQ. Starting from that point, I just can't stop listening to TVXQ! (and I listened to nothing else but TVXQ, I'm not kidding) Sometimes I figured that maybe Allah wants me to learn something here, but up until this point I still can't quite figure out what. It's odd isn't it, how I become so attached to TVXQ and no other groups? Like seriously, even after almost five years, I easily grow bored with songs from other Kpop groups. Even when I say that it's my song addiction, they aren't really on my shuffling list, they aren't even on my iPod! What's on my iPod right now is the full set of TVXQ/JYJ/Homin songs, Maher Zain's songs, 2 piano instrumental pieces, and B2st's new fiction&fact just because it's new. o.O And that's it.

For now, all I can say is, as long as these songs doesn't keep me away from doing my duties to Allah and to myself, then maybe it's fine. -_- But then again, humans are careless and forgetful. We sometimes don't even realise that what we're doing doesn't comply to our beliefs. Subhanallah. May Allah shower us with guidance...
